Want to Volunteer?

A Callahan Care volunteer is someone who leads with kindness and shows up with a heart to serve. Whether stocking shelves, delivering essentials, or offering a warm smile, our volunteers embody compassion. They see the person behind the need—and meet them with dignity, hope, and love.

Our volunteers are the heartbeat of everything we do. From building and restocking Open Stores, to sorting donations in the warehouse, to helping families shop with dignity—every role matters. Volunteers may be asked to lift, organize, travel to schools, or assist during events. We ask that each person bring a spirit of kindness, a willingness to help wherever needed, and a heart to serve others well. Your hands make hope possible.

Callahan Care offers verified volunteer hours for students looking to serve their community. From warehouse work to store restocks, your time makes a real difference—and counts toward school requirements. It’s more than credit; it’s impact with purpose. Along the way, you'll meet great people, build skills, and help bring hope to families across Arizona.

At each of our partnered closets, families can request additional items not available in our open stores, such as small appliances, home goods, beds, bedding, and more. These requests are sent to our CarePortal network, giving dozens of churches in the Phoenix Valley the opportunity to fulfill them. If a request remains unfulfilled for more than a week, it is forwarded to GCU CityServe, where Callahan Care staff members will hand-deliver all available items.

Our Delivery Teams are groups of volunteers—often from a church or community organization—that receives notifications about local needs submitted through CarePortal. These needs typically come from child welfare workers and involve assisting families and children in crisis. The Delivery Team is tasked with either purchasing the item for the family, delivering them to their home, and invited them into small groups/congregations or picking the items up from GCU CityServe, delivering it to the family’s home, and still inviting them into their small group/congregation.
